While not an elite

Here are my
benefits from doing that: 2 free nights as the sign - up bonus (which I used at this hotel by the way), top -
tier Diamond
status for hitting $ 40K spend, 120K Hilton points since each dollar spent earns a minimum of 3 points ($ 40K x 3 points / $ = 120K points), and another free night on my anniversary for hitting the $ 10K spending threshold.
The MilleMiglia program has 3 levels for annual elite
status qualification (there is also a 4th level for those that have achieved top
tier status for at least 10 consecutive years, but this is not relevant to our discussion of reciprocal
benefits).

benefit because a passenger with Gold
status will have everyone in the two
status tiers above them ahead of then in the upgrade queue — upgrades are very hard to come by as an AAdvantage Gold member and they are rare.

Some of the eligible fares are being removed from the MVP and the MVP Gold
tiers to better differentiate the
benefits of each

Either Marriott needs to address this issue and ensure that top -
tier status holders are actually genuinely upgraded (when availability allows) or it needs to do a much better job of managing expectations and remove upgrades from the text on Platinum
benefits.
If you only have the lowest
tier of elite
status however, upgrade
benefits generally only apply to you and not your travel companion.
As things stand the Hyatt Gold Passport program is very lopsided in that all the worthwhile
benefits are to be found in the top -
tier of the program (Diamond
status) while the middle
tier (Platinum
status) doesn't really offer very much of interest at all — that's probably why it's given away with the Chase Hyatt credit card and why it's currently achievable in 5 nights.

On top of that, the fact that we will soon all be able to have Hilton top -
tier status for free (essentially) means that there's going to be a large rise in the number of people entitled to the
benefits that Diamond
status offers....
Decide what
benefits you value, what
status tier is a realistic option — don't go for top -
tier if you can't make most of the requirements with your usual travel patterns, and that includes the minimum spend for
status on American, Delta, United and Air Canada.
With the luxury of Hyatt top -
tier status I think I'll be more than happy to leave my Marriott comfort zone and explore the «wide range of exclusive services and
benefits» that the Hyatt email talks about and I'll almost certainly put a lot more business Hyatt's way in 2016.
In the past the AAdvantage program has offered some of the more generous award charts in the US Airline industry, the top -
tier benefits were easily the best out of any US airline (I would argue they were the best in the world), awards weren't especially hard to come by, upgrades were plentiful and, compared to its peers, AAdvantage was a pretty great program in which to earn miles and
status... especially if you traveled a lot.

I think I may have stumbled upon an unwritten
benefit of Hyatt top -
tier status that, if I'm correct and my experience isn't an anomaly, is very useful
benefit to have.
I may have recently been given a
status match to Hyatt's Diamond
Tier but the truth of the matter is that I know staggeringly little about Hyatt Gold Passport, the
benefits of the program and how to maximise the
status I've been lucky enough to be given.
If this is a true unpublished
benefit of Hyatt top -
tier status then it a very good
benefit to have.
Last year they ran a promotion in September where they required you to show proof that you have a top
tier status in another airline to enjoy Gold flight
benefits until December 2017.
If you have top -
tier Hyatt
status you may not value some of those
benefits all that highly but, if like me you don't have top -
tier status, all of that is more than worth $ 92.34.
Since this is the bottom
tier status level, you won't get a lot of super valuable
benefits but you do get come solid perks such as:
A good idea is to just evaluate the perks that come with each Hilton
status tier and determine which
benefits you value the most.
The highest
tiers offer enhanced
benefits from the mid-tier levels, but many times the
benefits aren't necessarily going to blow you away compared to what's offered by mid-tier
status.
