All of this added up to a very sore tail bone and
tight pelvic floor muscles and a lot of time to think about how travelling can affect your pelvic health.

Some women have
tight pelvic floor muscles to begin with (from birth, scar tissue, other factors) and if a muscle is tight to begin with, then you must first do what I call the «Reverse Kegel» to release and let go, to allow the vaginal muscles to regain its normal function, suppleness and flexibility.

When the

tight, it's probably doing too much work and a smart approach would be to look at all the

pelvic floor and find out who's weak or not coordinating and who's making the
pelvic floor overwork and subsequently become
tight.
We know that if the
pelvic floor is
tight it's probably also weak and tightening an already
tight muscle is not my first treatment choice for getting it stronger.
Remember that
tight, underused
muscles affect your alignment and your
pelvic floor.
You may be generating too much tension in the (already
tight)
pelvic floor muscles compared the loads being placed on them.
However, when performed by already hypertonic
muscles, Kegels can lead to an even
tighter pelvic floor and cause more serious problems to occur throughout the body.

A lot of
pelvic health issues arise because, just like any other
muscle in the body, these
pelvic floor muscles can become weak or
tight and even have painful trigger points and areas of spasm.
Tuck your birthin» hips for too long — like, all the time — and you're going to need
pelvic floor therapy as the
muscles of the
pelvic floor shorten and become
tight.
If you over-do kegels, the
pelvic floor muscles can become short and
tight and can pull your sacrum (the back of your pelvis) inward.
For women who have a
tight pelvic floor, concentrically contracting the
muscles regularly will simply aggravate the tension issue.
You'll probably notice that your butt
muscles are clenched, and via «overflow activation,» your
pelvic floor muscles will be
tight and clenched as well.
But people with IC often have
pelvic floor dysfunction (PFD), and their
pelvic muscles are too
tight.
For some women with prolapse, the problem is actually short,
tight, overly active
pelvic floor muscles rather than weak
pelvic floor muscles.
