The couple gave the existing mantel an upgrade by painting it the same color as the walls (in a semigloss sheen) and replacing the hearth's builder - grade tiles with leftover pieces from a patio installation.

It's easier to match paint to tile than vice versa - in this installation, we had our cabinetry colour matched to the tile.
