gives it their all with Hill and Cross being particular standouts, but they are really livening up a script that at
times feel like a draft or a number of plots from different
films, piecemealed together.
Like the
film, characters take the opportunity to play nice, adhering to the social strata of the
time, forcing us to
give up the more overt subversion of the first
film in favor of pure genre immersion.
The picture transfer is fine but
given how new the
film is, the odd frame suffers from a print that looks a little dirty at
times.
Given three
films, each presumably close to three hours long, Jackson and co have plenty of
time on their hands, and 20 minutes of the
film has passed before the immortal «In a hole in the ground there lived a hobbit» is spoken.
It seems all of these people
gave their
time to this
film because they understand what it is, and appreciate The Room's cult status.
Fear not, KUNG FU PANDA 2 is still essentially a lighthearted affair, although I appreciate the effort that's been made to
give it a bit more of an emotional kick this
time around, which is more than the last few SHREK
films ever tried to accomplish.
A fast - paced, dialogue - driven, well - constructed little
film about the immorality of our
times, specifically playboy Roger (Campbell Scott) and how he decides to
give his 16 - year old nephew (Jesse Eisenberg) in town a crash course in how to get laid after his nephew asks for his help.
But
given that the
film requires little of him other than comedic
timing, that's not really a fair criticism.
Con it can be slow some
times If you like coming age
films, click flicks or really moving
films, you should
give this a try.
Birdman or (The Unexpected Virtue of Ignorance) is a brilliant directed
film by Alejandro González Iñárritu, who manipulates the camera to
give the illusion that the
film is one continuous long take (which can get dizzying at
times)
giving a
film that is resonate to a modern day audience as it examins these fictitious characters and their commentary on what it means to stay relevant.
