books from there, and one of the best things is they are always available and I don't have to use up space to

10 dollars is absolutely absurd when you can get them for free in physical form
at a library, not to mention used
books stores where they cost less than 3 dollars
at times..
From my experience, to have the most successful bookstore
at this point in
time would be having a larger kids section, self lookup kiosks, no cafe (or
at least a cafe that runs on its own payroll), and a much smaller retail space with only the best selling of each category in
store with the option of having a
book shipped FREE if it's not in
store, and not having such a huge digital presence (nook).
The ridiculous hoop jumping that authors have to endure in order to have their
books even sold in a «real» bookstore, let alone featured, means that indie physical
stores have the power to offer authors something they can't get otherwise, while
at the same
time not simply competing as violently with major online retailers.
The idea of a blog tour can be immediately exciting to many authors and publicists who run into logistical hurtles when planning a traditional
book tour (e.g. high costs for travel, coordinating special shipments of
books to arrive in
time, scheduling events with various
stores all with their own full calendars, and bringing in a big enough audience
at each venue to make it all worthwhile).
