summer camps at Duke — but by the
time senior year rolled around, competition was so fierce that people didn't even talk about where they were applying.
Summer and other breaks are good
times to talk about
school in a casual way.
Summer is
in full swing, the kids are off
school and it is the perfect
time to enjoy some valuable family
time out and about together.
Since the
time that I was
in high
school I worked during the year so I could travel
in the
summer.
I'd always loved making, but attending the brilliant Folksy
Summer School in 2013, and actually having some
time when I stopped teaching, gave me that push that I needed to open a shop.
But we also need to make sure that our communities are safe, that our young people have proper nutrition, that they have great healthcare, that they get the after -
school and the
summer supports they need, so that these young people really have an opportunity to do well
in school, and out of
school, and at home all at the same
time.
The AAP's priorities for child nutrition reauthorization are strengthening the WIC program, keeping the nutritional standards for the
school meals program strong, and addressing childhood hunger and food insecurity during out - of -
school time, especially
in the
summer months.
When eligible
schools use the
summer and afterschool meal programs to provide free meals to all children during these most vulnerable
times of the day and year, it creates new opportunities to engage
in farm to
school activities, and improves
school meal program finances even more.
It seems like all the
time in the world until you start hitting the back to
school sales and wonder where another
summer went.

Solution: While you can't make your child believe that back - to -
school has the same perks as
summer, you can make the start of
school enticing by reminding him of all the things that back - to -
school time offers, such as seeing his friends again, doing fun activities
in school, getting to go on
school trips, and doing other activities he loves to do
in school (fun games
in gym class or recess, making arts and crafts, singing or dancing or playing musical instruments, and more).
Now that
school's out for
summer, snacking at home is
in full swing so I've been brainstorming new recipes that will satisfy hungry bellies and taste buds, without a long prep
time (because Mom can always use a few extra hours to enjoy
summer too).
