One of my personal favorites, Ellie May came to Unleashed Pet Rescue while I was working there as a full
time kennel staff member.
When you call the receptionist she will ask for your last name and the pet's name, she will then check the bath list to see if your pet needs a bath and what
time the kennel staff expects your pet to be dry and ready to go home.

time of rescue, Arnold was quite overweight, and no veterinary hospital in NM had a large enough isolation
kennel for Arnold, and the veterinary
staff felt he was stable enough to not need 24/7 hospitalization.

The stress on shelter
staff is significant: no room to put ever more dogs; having to euthanize dogs to make room for new dogs; performing triage on sick animals when space is limited; having to make hard choices about evening and weekend heating and lighting with a small budget; no veterinarian or vet tech on the
staff; no evening or weekend
staff; no
time to network adoptable animals; no available homes in the surrounding communities; inadequate transport vehicles; little or no support from local government; an Animal Control Officer often doing double duty, responsible also for managing the shelter; counties lacking even a shelter or inside
kenneling.
This length of
time should be minimized, for example by scheduling more frequent, shorter periods when these procedures are completed (four hours of surgery every other day versus six hours twice a week, for example), training additional
staff to perform the procedure to the extent possible (e.g. training
kennel attendants, field officers and / or front office
staff to perform behavior evaluations), and / or making the animal available for adoption prior to completing the procedure (e.g. allowing animals to be selected for adoption prior to surgery, which is then completed before the animal is released).
As long as all the
staff love dogs, and they are not too pushed for
time during the day, some breeds can really enjoy
kennels.

Kennel Staff walks all boarding pets three
times a day in a large grassy area behind our hospital.

times when the regular cat and kitten

Our
kennel staff are trained and professional attendants who love spending
time with your pet.
Many of the
kennels had open drains and
staff admitted that when the dogs get their legs caught in them, by the
time staff finds them in the morning, their legs are so swollen, they can not be extricated.
Volunteers are invaluable to the animals and the shelter
staff as they give their
time walking dogs, washing dishes, doing laundry, cleaning
kennels, and other tasks that help create a happy, healthy environment for the animals.
Currently, we are seeking highly motivated, people - oriented, and committed full and / or part
time veterinarians, technicians, receptionists,
kennel staff, and doctors assistants.
Since only one or two
staff members are usually on the premises at a
time, it would be impossible to euthanize 15 to 40 dogs and cats a day, as well as answer the phones, assist the public, evaluate new animals, clean the
kennels, and feed the animals.
Before playgroup,
