This article reminded me
of my
mama and the beautiful
time we shared during her last week.
As a
mama of seven — a lose - library - books, holes - in - the - toes -
of - socks gaggle
of kids — I have sought many a
time to be better at motherhood.
My
mama remembers it and I will never forget, how every
time I ventured next door to play with Nancy Leigh Craig, that little slip
of a girl would pull out an empty glass mason jar, and Nancy Leigh Craig would fill it with heaps
of dirt dug up from the dog run behind her house, and then she would fill that jar up with water, throw in a bunch
of weed tops, and stir the whole mess up with any found stick.
I became a
mama for the first
time in the Fall
of 1998 when a foster mom, in the dark
of night in a tiny home in the middle
of Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam placed a nine week old baby girl into my shaking arms.
Akwango Anne Grace who started Beauty for Ashes Uganda and now has 850
mamas in our program — and this is her volunteer work on top
of her full
time job!
So my children lead worship right alongside
of the grown - ups, and their
mama reads Scripture right alongside
of the men, and their dad is the one who willingly gave up his own
time in the lead, for the joy
of giving his most - loved - ones a chance to worship out loud, too.
I'm the community care leader at our church so if a
mama has a new baby or someone falls on rough
times, that's us, we do the simple work
of making meals.
As
time moved on, I was able to connect with other «loss
mamas» who were integral in my healing; they were a source
of comfort and hope.
And this tired, missed her
time with the Lord
mama did not handle any
of that well.
Often
times I buy a rotisserie chicken to use in this dish, but since I tend to use shredded chicken in a lot
of my recipes, I think I am going to start buying my chicken in larger packages and using this handy little
time saving trick I saw over at The Pinning
Mama for shredding my chicken, and then freeze dinner size portions to pull out as I need it.
When the polka dotted apron's hanging up, she's a full -
time mama to two tiny kidlets enjoying the crazy days
of motherhood and pumping out brownie recipes from her thrice - dropped - barely - hanging - on laptop in sunny Costa Rica.
Even though I was a picky eater at a young age, or at least
Mama thought I was at the
time, each evening we'd have a battle
of the wills as we sat down to eat.

of time together.

That being said, Jennifer, there is a big difference between a
mama who tried everything and has to learn to let her baby fuss / cry for a few minutes to get some much needed sleep and a parent who willfully places a baby alone in a crib with the intention
