time spent on a page along with other metrics such as repeat visitors, scroll depth (how far a
reader gets into a story before they click away), and the number
of times content is copied and pasted into a
post, tweet, or email.
Not only does this help to create a subconscious feeling
of a shared experience among
readers, it also minimizes the amount
of time that must be spent writing blog
post content.
For example, if you want to connect with Darren Rowse for the first
time, knowing that direct contact may not be useful at this level, you may instead leave a significant comment on one
of his blog
posts, about 200 — 300 words in length, that offers something helpful to his
readers.
Such advice comes as no surprise to
readers of Fried's 15 years
of posts on his company's popular and influential blog, Signal vs. Noise or who have read any
of his books, like Rework, the New York
Times best - seller he co-wrote with his Basecamp partner, David Heinemeier Hansson.
For a long
time, though, I have wished Stratechery did a better job
of providing value not just through daily emails and
posts, but to the new user stumbling across the site for the first
time, or the long -
time reader hoping to find that one
post they remember reading.
A long -

posted a comment to a previous
post promoting long GOLD / short YEN.
A few

readers post more than 10
times a day to their Facebook Page and have found great success.

Heidi, maybe «Anonymous» and Susanne's comments actually have a germ
of a fun idea in them... how about a
post where your
readers can list recipes
of yours that they've made / loved / hated / modified / made 10
times, etc..
Most
of the
time, paying attention to Pinterest is a great way to gauge
reader interest in different cooking topics, and find out what types
of posts home cooks are most interested in reading.
It seems like every
time I
post a yeasted bread recipe on the good ol' blog, I get at least one comment from a
reader telling me that they're afraid
of yeast.
Because this book has already been so valuable to me in the short amount
of time I've had it, I am excited that the publisher is offering a free copy
of the book to one lucky
reader through this blog
post!

I have been a

time I come here and reading your
posts and replies and your helpfulness and patience with your
readers is truly inspiring.
My apologies to Ms. Minger and
readers for the previous incomplete version
of this
post, caused by a frantic attempt to curtail my
time already spent writing this lengthy and tiresome reply, something which I would usually never dream
of doing, much like using Facebook or most other forms
of social media.
Everyone who took the
time to take my recent
reader survey kept mentioning how much they love all
of my family oriented
posts and requested I start sharing more real - life moments, so without further adieu here's some snapshots into my world lately.
The blogging community is an amazing one, full
of badass and inspirational women from whom I learn so much everyday (quick shoutout to Style Collective — if you are a blogger and not a member I can not recommend it highly enough), and every
time a
reader sends me an email or comments on a
post, I feel that all
of my effort is worth it all over again.
These are actually some

of the
reader questions that I get are questions that SO MANY
of you want to ask... and often
times, the
reader questions spur some really interesting debate and further discussion and further questions, etc. etc. etc..
