A new study finds that
teachers hired during recession periods are more effective in math than
teachers who are hired in more secure
times because stronger
applicants apply for teaching jobs when the economy is not doing well.
The latest figures come shortly after government statistics revealed that the number of
applicants for
teacher - training courses had dropped by 6,510 — equivalent to 33 per cent — since the same
time last year.
But at the same
time, she resists easy comparisons to law or medicine: she notes that teaching is the largest occupation in the United States, and that just to fill openings each year requires as many
teachers (200,000) as there are total graduates from even our moderately selective colleges (colleges that admit half their
applicants or fewer).

teacher licensure test (NMTA / NES), essentially an 8th Grade literacy test that quite a few
teacher credential

times before earning a passing score.

We are currently seeking

time and part -
time consulting positions, focused on providing customized professional development for
teachers, math coaches and administrators in Tri-State area schools, principally in New York City.
