You brown onions and mushrooms, and layer them a couple of
times in a Dutch
oven with chopped fresh chard and the
toasted bread croutons.
Although it takes more
time, I recommend
toasting nuts and seeds
in the
oven on a dry baking sheet, rather than
in a pan on the stove top, because they cook more evenly.
Throw the bacon
in the
oven,

in no
time dinner is on the stove with hardly any mess.
