On December 10th, a year ago, I quit my job and took up full -
time travel blogging.
I think full - time vs part -
time travel blogging are both about making sacrifices.
I was a basket case the first few months of full -
time travel blogging, so I've had to train myself to trust that things will work out when those slow months inevitably occur.

Somehow I used to work full -
time, have a photography gig almost every weekend, blog on a consistent basis,
travel several
times a year for
blogging junkets and conferences, and manage to build a few websites.
I love to
travel and photography and
blogging take up quite a bit of
time with every day stuff leaves little
time to think about a partner except when I'm writing about it.

As a twenty something with a 9 - 5 job, who likes to
travel and have a life, along with
blogging, I have to squeeze things in when I have the
time.
I hope you all had a wonderful holiday season — I took a nice little break from
blogging in order to do my annual holiday stress out, complete with
traveling, spending
time with family and consuming a moderate to high level of wine.
I think a lot of it has to do with the fact that since I take my blog photos ahead of
time, my mood may change or conditions change where I can't wear the exact outfit I
blogged (like I'm
traveling, or it's my girl
time...) Then when you add in Friday outfits (since on Friday I do random roundups) and my weekend outfits, they multiply pretty quickly!

traveled through
time and space, made it over the big blue - green ocean, and am
blogging over at Pinup Persuasion!

blogging over at RomCon today and talking about villains, or in the case of my young adult
time travel novel WISHING YOU WERE HERE, a character you love to hate.
This list below is of the
blogging resources that have allowed me to build a successful
travel blog and following in a relatively short period of
time.
I started
blogging long ago but I had to leave it aside cause I didn't have
time at all, my biggest goal was to learn to organize my
time and be able to combine work /
travel with writing.
When I started my blog (which initially was just to keep in touch with family and friends and record my
travels), I spent an inordinate amount of
time setting it up, making it pretty, and learning the ropes and language of
blogging.
It was really
time - consuming; however, I learned so much about
travel blogging with this competition check.
She spent four years
travelling full -
time and
blogging as a digital nomad, before setting up a home base in Southampton, Canada.
I
travel with my stomach most of the
time and not with my eyes, which is becoming a real problem now that I decided to do this
travel blogging thing.
Real talk, I think it's
time we all sat down in a circle (on the internet) and had a real conversation about the state of
travel blogging, Instagramming, and
travel culture in general.
Travel blogging on the road requires a serious
time commitment, as I've already alluded to.
Later, my
blogging turned into a career that (in part) afforded me the ability to continue to
travel full -
time in a financially sustainable way.
Travel blogging has SO many ins and outs that it can get overwhelming at
times.
When you read / hear
travel bloggers stating that
travel blogging is a full -
time job, they're telling the truth!
If you didn't listen to my interview with Deb and Dave from the Planet D — it has a ton of actionable items and they share the revenue streams that have allowed them to make a full
time living with
travel blogging.
But my trip to Mumbai was three years before I started
travel blogging and while I have over 200 pictures of this amazing place on my camera, I don't have enough facts retained in my brain to write usefully about what I learned there — and it makes me sad every
time one of the pics flashes up on my screensaver.

You could argue that the group was actually truly representative of the «industry» as the very nature of
travel blogging means that the younger end of
travel blogging especially is over represented by people from white, middle class backgrounds because people who aren't from that background simply can't afford to take
time out to
travel... despite what some blogs might say.

So hence, for a long
time coming, I wanted to do some
travel blogging interviews and crack them open for their rawness inspiration of
travel inside.
So much of the
time, Jodie expresses things I feel about
travel blogging and the contradictions it can bring.
Along the way we would
travel on the cheap, create some awesome content and hopefully you would learn a wealth of knowledge about how to do adventure
travel while backpacking,
blogging and instagramming at the same
time.
Blogging has allowed us to make a full -
time income while
traveling the world and we want to share with you how we do it.
