If the PDI is a good metric for understanding «destructiveness» (as it is in the
title of Emanuel's paper, which probably was chosen by Nature, not Emanuel), shouldn't we expect to see some statistical correlation between the PDI (e.g., in the Atlantic) and actual measures
of destruction (e.g., in the US)
over a
period of many
decades?
