i'm Christian — someone
who believes in the Gospel, and all the uncomfortable implications that come along with it when trying to love everyone around me.
And says Mark: «Repent and believe in the gospel [good news].»
We may admit this without the wistful feeling that only classical man could
honestly believe in the Gospel, and that we are debarred from accepting it because of the change in our world view.
«
Believing in the gospel of «doing the most important tasks first» and pushing email correspondence to the end of the day, I found that I consistently avoided answering certain messages because they required hard choices that my brain found taxing,» she relates.
«No one's beyond hope, we've seen redemption in the most unlikely people... when you're talking about certain sexual offences I think you have to be very careful, and the support has to be lifelong, but I think
we believe in that Gospel don't we, everyone is not beyond the blood of Christ, everyone can be changed.»
Jesus began his public ministry with the announcement: The time is fulfilled, the kingdom of God is near, repent and
believe in the Gospel.
We are commanded to repent and
believe in the gospel (Mk 1:15).
That last word deserves emphasis, too, particularly because it is the last word in the sentence universally seen as the Markan agenda for Jesus» ministry: «The time is fulfilled, and the kingdom of God is at hand; repent, and
believe in the gospel» (Mark 1:15)
Yet it seemed that only a very few responded to his call to repent and
believe in the Gospel.
In the liturgy for the imposition of the ashes, the words alternate between the so - called «fall» story in Genesis and Mark's summary of Jesus» central theme for preaching:» [Remember] you are dust, and to dust you shall return» (Gen. 3:19), and «Repent, and
believe in the gospel» (Mark 1:15).
In fact, what he says is «repent and

To
believe in the gospel is to commit oneself to do justice, love mercy and walk humbly before God (Micah 6:8) in the power of the Spirit of the risen Christ.
Two things are necessary: repent and
believe in the Gospel.
«Now after John was arrested, Jesus came into Galilee, preaching the gospel of God, and saying, «The time is fulfilled, and the kingdom of God is at hand; repent, and
believe in the gospel»» (Mark 1:14).
He came, says Mark (1:14 - 15), «preaching the gospel of God»; and the proclamation ends; with an exhortation to «repent, and
believe in the gospel,» that is, the good news (Anglo - Saxon godspel).
«Jesus came into Galilee,» says Mark (1:14 - 15), «preaching the gospel of God, and saying, «The time is fulfilled, and the kingdom of God is at hand; repent, and

There's no way around those words: Repent and
believe in the gospel.
And in the Gospel of Mark, Jesus begins his public ministry with these first words: «The time is fulfilled, and the kingdom of God is at hand; repent, and
believe in the gospel.»
Here's the verse from Mark: The time is fulfilled, and the kingdom of God is at hand; repent and

Yet if the biblical gospel is infinite then it would be impossible to ever «preach the gospel» (Luke 4:18; Acts 16:10; Rom 1:15; etc.) or «
believe in the gospel» (Mark 1:15).
That can not be so, because Jesus came preaching the Gospel of God and urging men to repent and
believe in the Gospel, and the Gospel is literally Good News (Mark 1:14, 15).
In the Catholic tradition when they are applied a priest can say, «Remember man, from dust you came and from dust you shall return» or «Repent and
