But sin is not the issue with God, and even if it was, we don't
get eternal life simply because He forgives all sin.
In one debate with his opponents, Jesus accuses them of trying to
get eternal life from the scriptures rather than from Jesus himself, to whom the scriptures all testify (John 5:39 - 40).

So when I am talking with someone, I will often take a little gospel of John, I prefer the ones called Living Water since they have little notes that remind me what verses are key, and what the verses mean, and in just a minute or two, can show a person from Scripture that to
get eternal life, all they have to do is believe in Jesus for it.
This is one reason nobody can ever «be good enough» to
get eternal life, because nearly everything we do is tainted by sin in some way.

Lutherans tend to harmonise Paul by arguing that Rom 2.7 refers to a hypothetical group who would
get eternal life by doing good if they could, but they cant.
Justification does not mean «

we get eternal life?
You get eternal life by believing in Jesus for it.
I have been a proponent of the radical free grace of God for about fifteen years now, by which
we get eternal life as a completely free gift of God, with no strings attached, and no works required on our part to gain, keep, or prove that we have eternal life.
Why do people use a religion that promises eternal life need a rapture event to
get eternal life?
