When your dog
does go on your command, continue offering that really great treat until you're sure he understands the recipe for instant potty.
The last time I seriously tried the Pantley technique she was around a year, since then I kept hoping she'd give up on her own but NO here she is aged 2 and 8 months and though she wakes less she does still wake, even though I have «trained» her to
let go on command and she does.
From there, Team Wellek would get the ball and
go on a commanding 10 minute drive where they picked up many key 3rd and 4th down conversions.
However, be cautious when rewarding a young child when they use the potty because she may not yet be ready or able to
go on command.
If this method is used consistently when housebreaking your puppy, you'll eventually be able to make
him go on command.
Using the command words during the elimination period will teach your dog to
go on command.
Once the dog knows that word, you can get them to
go on command, any time and any place (if they have to go, of course).
After practice, you should be able to say the cue and your dog should
go on command.
By instructing your puppy to eliminate beforehand and by rewarding him for eliminating afterward, you will teach your pup to
go on command.
He'll start to associate those words with going potty in the right area and you'll have
him going on command!
As soon as he was big enough to get on and off furniture on his own, I trained him to come and
go on command — and to wait for an invitation.
