The «In Adam» designation in Paul can refer symbolically to some believers who are spiritually in Christ, but who continue to
live in the flesh in their experience.
This Jesus, who
once lived in the flesh on earth, is now exalted as the Messiah - King, the Son of Man and the Judge of the world.
In this age of tribulation and death, of warfare with Satan, to
live in the flesh means to wait, to hope, to believe, to groan.
Did they die and come back to
life in the flesh, as Jesus did?
And as our practice increases, we can aspire to imitate St. Paul's confidence: «I have been crucified with Christ; it is no longer I who live, but Christ who lives in me; and the life I now
