Whenever you play the CD or introduce new baby smells to your dog,
reward him with a treat so that he will link baby sounds and smells to something that is enjoyable.
Once they are reliably not breaking a sit or down, add the «stay» command and a release word
upon rewarding with a treat, such as «okay».
If your dog objects, start to incorporate foot touching into very short sessions throughout the day, touching each foot briefly,
then rewarding with a treat.
As with all future puppy training lessons, at first
always reward him with a treat, then gradually every other time, and finally only reward him on a random basis.
Be sure to pause in between having the bird step up from one hand to another, and praise and
reward with treats as needed.
The start of the party should be calm so the puppy feels no pressure once he has gained confidence you can slowly introduce him to balloons, streamers and
music rewarding with treats to ensure a positive experience.
Once your pup is confidently performing the desired behavior on cue, you can phase out the clicker and
just reward with a treat by itself, or with any other type of reward you choose.
A good tip is to have your current dog stay while you pet the newcomer
then reward with a treat then do the reverse so each dog gets the same amount of love.
