One more disadvantage
of sleeping with a baby in the same bed is a bed sleep because you can't relax thinking will you hurt your baby when you fall asleep.
You can perform skin - to - skin with your baby at home, in the hospital, and anytime day or night, providing you
never sleep with your baby on your chest.
Certain risk factors like bedding, cushions and alcohol / medication (on your part, not the baby's) make
sleeping with your baby more of a safety concern.
For now, just understand that the most common definition of co sleeping is simply
sleeping with your baby closer to you than in a crib in a separate room.
Whether this is a conscious change on their part or not, many times, parents with older children who begin co
sleeping with the baby notice this taking place.
My doc said it was fine for them to
sleep with a baby bottle of water as long as they weren't running around with it in their mouth all day.
