Texture is a bit like eating very tasty mud:) but I just added some
toasted nuts and seeds
on top for the crunch.
However, if you have diabetes / pre-diabetes and you are including bananas as part of a whole meal then I would just balance them with some healthy fat (avocados,
nuts, etc.) You could have a banana
on top of a piece of sprouted whole grain
toast with some almond butter and that would be a good option.
I'm also wondering how this would be to heat, with all the chocolate gooey
on the
top and the
nuts being slightly
toasted.
And there's no law (yet...) that says instead of pressing some crushed
toasted nuts on the warm chocolate, go minimalist and simple sprinkle a few grains of flaky sea salt and roasted cocoa nibs over the
top.
What's in it: For the french
toast --- 1/2 large loaf of multigrain bread, ideally a few days old, cut into 1 inch cubes (about 5 cups cubes)-- 4 large eggs — 1 1/2 cups vanilla almond milk ** — 1 teaspoons cinnamon — 1 teaspoon vanilla extract — 1/4 teaspoon salt For the apples --- 3 - 4 apples, thinly sliced — 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon — 1 tablespoon coconut oil For the
topping --- 1/3 cup roughly chopped raw
nuts and seeds (I used almonds and sunflower seeds)-- 1 - 2 tablespoons brown sugar (depending
on your sweetness preference)-- 1/4 teaspoon salt
This simple
toasted muesli recipe is the perfect breakfast
on its own, but also great as a
topping, tasty little snack or protein boost
on your salad.For this simple
toasted muesli recipe, I have chosen loads of different seeds and
nuts.
I made a 2 cup batch and then whirled some red roasted peppers in the cleaned out processer bowl to drizzle
on top along with a few
toasted pine
nuts.
Whether you try this soup alone with nothing
on top, add caramelized onions, cubes or
toasted breads, or the
nuts I'm pretty sure you're going to love this soup as much as I do!
I toss these
on top of some wilted greens, risotto, slices of avocado, or (if it's a Sunday) buttered
toast — Your carrot / harissa salad, with feta and mint, or some variation of shredded veggies and this same general dressing (broccoli stems, cabbage, etc)-- Lots of salads with lemon / garlic / olive oil vinaigrette, feta, almonds or
nuts.
Method: Pre heat the oven to 400 degrees F Cook lentils according to the package, typically 3 cups of water to 1 cup of lentils Meanwhile,
toast the walnuts for 5 - 7 minutes and set aside Sauté the onions and mushrooms until the onions are translucent Add the
nuts, lentils, onion mixture into a food processor and pulse until combined Add the salt, nutritional yeast and gf bread crumbs and continue to pulse until a crumble texture is formed Spoon out a scoop of the lentil and
nut mixture and roll with your hands to form a ball, continue until all the mixture is used, placing about 2 inches apart
on a baking tray Bake for 25 - 30 minutes until a slight crust forms Serve over pasta,
top with your favorite sauce!
The light and creamy texture flavored with a touch of honey and fragrant,
toasted pine
nuts smeared
on top of soft, warm and fluffy bread.
If you still want a crumbly
topping, you can use quick - cooking oats (perhaps
toast them
on a dry skillet first for a nuttier flavor) or use any kind of
nuts you have
on hand (if you'd like to use
nuts at all, that is).
Although it takes more time, I recommend
toasting nuts and seeds in the oven
on a dry baking sheet, rather than in a pan
on the stove
top, because they cook more evenly.
I'll put
toasted pine
nuts on top, too.
I usually
toast a cup or two of
nuts at a time and keep them
on hand for
topping salads and snacking.
To give your soufflé pizazz, add some whipped cream
on top, and finish it with
toasted nuts for some crunch and texture.
Place a few sardine fillets
on each piece and
top with onion - currant mixture,
toasted pine
nuts, lemon zest, parsley and a squeeze of lemon juice, and serve.
Combine the shredded sprouts,
toasted pine
nuts, diced orange, sliced red onion — then toss with dijon vinaigrette * & lay hard boil eggs
on top.
And when they came off of the griddle all
toasted on the outside and doughy in the middle, I got all warm and fuzzy
on the inside... okay maybe not, but I did split one open right away and
topped it with some mixed
nut butter and raw honey.
You can also pour a glug or two
on your morning yogurt and then
top with fresh berries or, for an even more savory option,
toasted nuts and spices.
If I am feeling fancier, I sprinkle freshly
toasted pistachio
nuts on top, for a very Indian touch.
Walnut cake at the bottom, followed by a semisweet chocolate layer, caramelized
toasted nuts cream and a mascarpone and coffee mousse
on top.
The relatively simple concoction is then ready for whatever
toppings you have
on - hand: more banana, other fruit, homemade vegan granola,
toasted nuts or seeds, or a drizzle of maple syrup.
To complement the flavors and add some crunch, I sprinkled some
toasted salty cashew
nuts on top.
Top with a handful of arugula, sprinkle some toasted pine nuts on top and drizzle some honey over the piz

I freeze it in individual portions, then
toast in my toaster oven with
nut butter (cashew butter this week)
on top.
To assemble the
toast, spread
on the
nut butter, drizzle with chia jam and
top with fresh berries,
toasted coconut and an extra sprinkle of cinnamon
Sweet and Salty — Spread your favorite
nut butter or
nut - free butter
on the
toasted sweet potato and
top it with a little jelly or marmalade.
I mix the frisée with the vinaigrette and add a bit of salad
on each plate, place a small amount of the hot gizzards
on top, and sprinkle with
toasted walnuts or pine
nuts.
Spread the avocado
on the
toast and
top with the egg, pine
nuts, salt and pepper — or anything else you choose.
I fry or poach an egg I
toast 2 pieces of sourdough bread (use whatever bread you'd like that's just my fave) instead of butter etc I use coconut oil then I mash up whole or half an avocado depending
on how hungry I am squeeze some 1/4 lime or lemon into avo spread it
on top of the
toast and sprinkle salt and pepper as well as some pine
nuts (or anything else you'd like to
top it with) and when I have tomatoes I like to cut up a few and add them as well.
