When you have an older child who has fostered good
independence as a
toddler, he or she will be more likely to want to join groups and clubs and may even take the initiative to talk to you
about these interests without you having to bring them up first.

toddler's closet too.
At least, not if your
toddler and their budding sense of
independence and influence have anything to say
about it.
Toddlers are learning
about being separate people and wanting to use their
independence and say «No».
So, for example, when my
toddler is really testing her limits and negotiating with me
about something that should be a simple discussion, I remind myself that her
independence and questioning spirit are qualities that I find really admirable and will be proud that she's honed.
