A sloppy Joe
sandwich is an American classic made of ground beef
in a seasoned
tomato sauce served on a hamburger bun, originating
in the early 1900s.
You know, that lunch after spending hours playing
in the snow that consisted of a deliciously gooey
sandwich with some warming
tomato soup?

My favorite go to meal
in the summer is garden
tomato sandwiches,
in cooler months, my favorite go to meal is Multigrain pasta with nutritional yeast and vegan butter, yumm.
And I eventually got much more creative
in how I prepared them: beyond scrambled there were breakfast tacos and burritos, huevos rancheros, bacon and egg
sandwiches, eggs baked
in tomato sauce (I'll -LSB-...]
In addition to lunch
sandwich ingredients — such as bread, lunchmeat, cheese, lettuce and
tomatoes — the company also supplies pizza, burgers and other convenience store food specialties.
This sundried
tomato version from Central isn't just great on pasta, it also works well on
sandwiches in my opinion.
Who doesn't look back fondly on memories of a bowl of hot
tomato soup and a grilled cheese
sandwich, the soup just begging the
sandwich to drop
in for a quick dip?
A toasty, buttery, ooey - gooey, cheesy
sandwich that went with
tomato soup like salt to pepper, peanut butter to jelly or Plinko to Price Is Right... a match made
in food heaven.
This toast, hummus and artichoke
sandwich actually contains
tomatoes that grew
in my garden.
We have hot chicken
sandwiches (Frank's hot sauce on the chicken, LOTS of bleu cheese on toasted whatever - bread - I - have - on - hand, lettuce and
tomato), chicken alfredo (I just add a bit of pressed garlic and pepper to the pan when the chicken is almost done, throw
in some cream, let it simmer and reduce, then add a bunch of finely grated parm, asiago, pecorino romano, or whatever I have), and then an absolute favorite: lemon pepper chicken on Greek Salad.
Griddle the
sandwich in a skillet until golden brown and crusty, and serve it with a tangy bowl of
tomato soup.
I love sundried
tomatoes in bread, it's great with soup, or just for
sandwiches.
Not only can you enjoy these as a perfect summer appetizer paired with Buttermilk Herb Ranch Sauce, try
sandwiching them with lettuce and bacon for an elevated BLT or scattering them
in between fresh
tomatoes and mozzarella for crunch and flavor
in a caprese salad.
Typically we grill
tomatoes in the summer or eat them raw (or on cucumber /
tomato sandwiches) but I wanted that quasi-crispy, slightly - sweet taste you can only get from a roasted
tomato.
Let everyone assemble their own
sandwiches as follows: Layer
tomatoes on slices of bread, then dollop a generous amount of the bean mixture over them (you can do those steps
in reverse order as well — bean spread first, then
tomatoes).
Crisp butter lettuce, juicy
tomatoes, tangy tempeh bacon, creamy avocado, and zesty garlic aioli
in a pressed ciabatta roll will be your new favorite
sandwich!
Ingredients For the avocado ranch: 1 ripe California Avocado, peel and pitted, cubed 1/2 cup well - shaken buttermilk 1 garlic clove, grated or minced 1 scallion, chopped 2 tablespoons finely chopped chives 1 1/2 tablespoons finely chopped dill 1 1/2 tablespoons finely chopped parsley Juice of 1/2 lemon 1/2 teaspoon honey Kosher salt Freshly ground black pepper For the
sandwich: 4 tablespoons Frank's Hot Sauce 2 tablespoons unsalted butter 5 ounces high - quality turkey slices, diced Fixings: Brioche bun *,
tomato, lettuce, dill pickle slices, crispy bacon, Pepper Jack cheese Instructions To make the ranch, place avocado, buttermilk, garlic, scallion, chives, dill, parsley, lemon and honey
in a small food processor with a couple pinches of salt and a 1/4 teaspoon black pepper.
If I had to choose another way to eat them I guess I would put them
in a
sandwich with turkey meat, cheese, spinach, avocado and
tomato.
2 - 12 oz package of firm tofu, drained vegetable oil — for grilling the tofu and the bacon 8 slices of bread vegan mayonnaise 4 slices tempeh bacon 4 large lettuce leaves 2
tomatoes sliced 16
sandwich picks or 8 teriyaki skewers cut

Serve immediately or chilled on a
sandwich, toasted bagel, stuffed
in a
tomato, or on crackers.
Classic «TLT»
sandwich: Sautéed tempeh bacon, lettuce, and thinly sliced
tomatoes with vegan mayonnaise on whole grain bread or
in a wrap.
It's rich, creamy, high
in protein and can be served so many ways — as an appetiser with pita chips, crisps or crudites; as a
sandwich spread; smeared all over a jacket potato, as a sauce for pasta,
in a Buddha Bowl, or even as a main course — just top it with olives, chopped
tomatoes, cashews and whatever else you fancy, and served with hot Arabic bread to dip.
Enjoy this salad as you would any tuna salad: on crackers;
in a
sandwich with toasted bread and some curly lettuce; stuffed inside a firm, ripe
tomato as we do «down South;» as a lighter canape on cucumber slices; or as the ultimate indulgence: on fried green
