I then
topped my
cooked red lentil
pasta with some plain tuna, the other half of my avocado from this morning, minced garlic, and a drizzle of olive oil.
If, like my daughter, you have children sensitive to vegetables in any form, you can blend the
cooked piperade into a compote consistency and use it as a
pasta sauce or as a
topping on toast or pizza.
When you
cook shredded cabbage until very tender in your favorite
pasta sauce and then
top it with a sprinkling of your favorite parmesan cheese (try this vegan version if you like), it's transformed into a comforting dish that has the classic flavor of spaghetti.
Thick bucatini
pasta is
topped with a slow
cooker bolognese including meatballs and a ball of burrata.
Because I actually had fresh truffles in my grubby little hands I took the advice of a chef friend and
cooked them as little as possible, adding them shaved with fluffy scrambled eggs, on
top of fresh angel hair
pasta, and added last minute to creamy mushroom soup.
Shredded corned beef gets mixed with sauerkraut
cooked in beer, thousand island dressing with
pasta in a cheesy bechamel with a mustard rye
top.
Mushrooms are one of the most versatile ingredients you can use; they are super quick to
cook, you can use it as buns for a burger, you can cut them small and use as a filling for pot pies or omelettes, and you can slice them to use on
top of pizzas, or on
pasta sauces, or for pretty much everything you can think of.
One - Pot Pizza
Pasta is an easy, cheesy, comforting dinner recipe loaded with flavor thanks to all of your favorite pizza
toppings... and as a bonus, everything gets
cooked in the same pot!
Pour the sauce over the
pasta in the pot and mix together until evenly coated (reserving a few tbsp of sauce to pour on
top before
cooking).
Once your
pasta is
cooked al dente, place it on
top of your sauce, re-heat the lot, and serve hot garnished with the chopped parsley.
Buy some chile - flavored
pasta at your favorite gourmet shop,
cook it up, sprinkle olive oil over the drained
pasta, and
top with a grated chile cheese of choice.
Spoon
pasta mixture into an 11 x 7 - inch baking dish lightly coated with
cooking spray;
top with squash mixture.
The «go to» for us is ground turkey, garlic, onions, mushrooms, tons of powdered sage - browned, then dump in a carton of sour cream (I've been using Greek Yogurt lately) toss with
cooked pasta, salt & pepper and
top with parmesan.
This applies to electric pressure
cookers more than stove -
top... I think, but I use my electric pressure
cooker to do many things — in the Summer — that are not necessarily time - saving, but to keep from adding heat to the kitchen:

I have always made a summer
pasta that is this fast: spaghetti
topped with lots of chopped fresh tomatoes,
cooked shrimp, chopped feta and a good, heavy dose of dried oregano and black pepper.
Method: Pre heat the oven to 400 degrees F
Cook lentils according to the package, typically 3 cups of water to 1 cup of lentils Meanwhile, toast the walnuts for 5 - 7 minutes and set aside Sauté the onions and mushrooms until the onions are translucent Add the nuts, lentils, onion mixture into a food processor and pulse until combined Add the salt, nutritional yeast and gf bread crumbs and continue to pulse until a crumble texture is formed Spoon out a scoop of the lentil and nut mixture and roll with your hands to form a ball, continue until all the mixture is used, placing about 2 inches apart on a baking tray Bake for 25 - 30 minutes until a slight crust forms Serve over
pasta,
top with your favorite sauce!
Cook up some
pasta on those busy weeknights and pour some of this sauce on
top for your family and friends.
Add the
cooked pasta and crumble the almond feta and lemon zest on
top.
My favourite way to serve this up is on a bed of brown rice and quinoa (I do a 50 - 50 mix, soaked overnight then
cooked in organic vegetable stock), but you could even serve this over some wholewheat
pasta, or cold on
top of salad greens.
To serve, put about 2 tablespoons
cooked pasta in the bowl and
top with soup.

You can add sweetcorn, beans, whatever you fancy to this before pouring over

Tonight I had a little leftover soup so I
cooked some penne and baked some frozen fish I
topped them both with the warmed left over soup watered down with a little of the
pasta cooking water.
