The topic sentences in compare / contrast essays may organize the information subject by subject (block method) or point by point.
As with all writing, teachers should first model good
topic sentences in order to have students identify the topic and the claim in the sentence, regardless of the academic discipline.

Hanby briefly mentions educating children, rebuilding parishes, and embracing a countercultural way of life as aspects of his proposed witness, but he covers those

So for example, when I read for background information, I will save informative
sentences from each article about a specific
topic in a Word document.
After all, there's a word for an education that includes disparate
topics for which one may not have aptitude, and I used that word earlier
in this
sentence.

sentence, the part of the
sentence that identifies what the
sentence is about (often the same as the subject of the
sentence), is marked quite differently
in each language.
In our own language, intonation helps us to identify different kinds of
sentences and parts of
sentences, such as questions, conditionals, imperatives,
sentence topics, etc..
