The study found that in their 450 parts per million (ppm) atmospheric CO2 concentration scenario (590 ppm by 2200),
the total damage caused by climate change would amount to $ 32 trillion by the year 2200.
The committee also separately derived a range of values for
damages from
climate change, and found that each ton of carbon dioxide emissions will be far worse in 2030 than now: «even if the
total amount of annual emissions remains steady, the
damages caused by each ton would increase 50 percent to 80 percent.»
