In China, this has been the case since 2011, with
total household consumption spending growing on average faster than overall GDP by 1.5 percentage points each year.
The value of
total household consumption through the first nine months of 2015 is little changed compared with the same period in 2014, according to StatsCan data.
Not exact matches
With
total payments little changed, the rise in scheduled payments has had no obvious implications for
household consumption.
Over time this means that
households will retain a growing share of China's
total production of goods and services (at the expense of the elite, of course, who benefitted from subsidized borrowing costs) and so not only will they not be hurt by a sharp fall in GDP growth, but their
consumption will increasingly drive growth and innovation in China.
But if
households retain a low share of everything they produce, with governments and businesses getting the rest, then again, whether they are as thrifty as ants or as spendthrift as grasshoppers, their
total consumption will be a low share of
total GDP, and the country's
total savings, which is equal to GDP minus
consumption, will be a high share.
The revisions showed that in the first half of 2017,
household consumption and residential investment combined
totalled 64.3 per cent as the share of the
total economy, a record.
Not surprisingly,
household consumption is consequently an extremely low share of GDP, as is
total consumption, which consists mostly of
household consumption.
Together,
households in the 4th and 5th quintile account for only 10 % of the
total sample, yet consume 40 % of the
total volume of alcohol, with an average apparent
consumption above the recommended level for low - risk of harm over the lifetime (i.e. no more than 2 standard drinks / day over the lifetime).
In a second step, the researchers compared the average of the three - year
total consumption of these drugs by health - care establishments with the
total annual
consumption of selected substances by German
households.

This estimation is a devastating blow to those nations where food
consumption of the poorest
households accounts to more than 60 percent of
total spending.
