need my body
totally away from hers to actually feel comfortable enough to
sleep!
But I also know that whenever we are feeling overwhelmed with our baby, it's usually because we are
totally sleep deprived and
NEED MORE REST!
It's
totally OK to put the baby down if you are tired,
need a break,
need sleep, don't want to hold them while you poop, or are so completely touched out at the end of the day that it makes your skin crawl.
Also your husband really does
need to be more involved — even if he can
totally take over just for a couple of nights to get you some decent
sleep, that could make a huge difference.
When you start your gentle
sleep coaching, you will sit by in your chair (quite literally) and provide verbal and physical reassurance when
needed, at the same time allowing your baby to discover whether she likes to rock herself a bit, or prefers to suck her thumb (or maybe your baby will find a
totally different way to soothe herself).
We had a crib and it was
totally unnecessary for us (we never planned to cosleep, but that's what happened and we never
needed the crib, even when DS started
sleeping in his own room we just put him on the toddler mattress on the floor).
Anyone have twins with
totally different
sleeping needs?
In all seriousness, though, there's no
need to go
totally luddite in the name of
sleep.
And I
totally feel you on
needing to put the electronics away before
sleep.
To me the most shocking thing was the degree to which the filth, mold, and vermin and maggots went so that they were
totally unable to meet even their most basic
needs, such as eating, drinking,
sleeping in safety without rats crawling over them, going to the bathroom, cleaning themselves, that they walked over slippery, dangerous layers of mushy, filthy, sludgy paper.
