After a two - year orbital
tour around comet 67P / Churyumov - Gerasimenko, ESA's Rosetta spacecraft — carrying Southwest Research Institute's Alice ultraviolet spectrograph — will end its mission this week on Sept. 30.
With the help of computer - generated scenery, scientists act as
tour guides through exotic spacescapes — clambering
around the surface of a
comet, for instance, while describing the supersonic jets of ice that erupt from its surface.
