conclusion rolls around, Breathe has established itself as a promising effort from an exciting new filmmaker - with Laurent's stylish sensibilities setting her apart from many of her contemporaries (ie it's impossible not to be captivated by an outdoor
tracking shot that
follows a character through the rooms of her small apartment).
The new version
follows neither the original (which played each sequence to it's
conclusion then moved to the next) nor the rhythms of standard police procedural intercutting, but instead leave everything slightly off - balance, all of which occurs after the famous opening shot, a long
track from one border town to another.
