the trackpad really is that bad?

The rubber palm rests help to grip my palms to either side of the
trackpad, and it's a
really nice touch.
Miss CrackBerry's 9981 has been
really glitchy as of late too, with the touchscreen often not responding and then the
trackpad not responding (then both work for a while, then go back to one or the other not responding).
The ability to run Windows apps is its only good point and it looks good in theory, but you
really do need to use the keyboard and
trackpad to do it — so why would anyone wanting to run Windows applications buy this kludged assortment of clip together bits with a second rate keyboard and
trackpad, low battery life, and semi-stable parts as opposed to a proper ultrabook laptop?
The only thing not
really compatible would be screen protectors and some fully form fitted cases since the
trackpad and keyboard area on the device have changed ever so slightly.

really want one of those sweet new BlackBerry Curves with an optical sensor
trackpad and that slim, sleek body — I'm just not sure what to >>
I
really think the Tour is a better device, even if it doesn't have WiFi, an optical
trackpad, or OS 5.0 (it's basically the same as 4.7 anyways).
The only thing I can
really knock about the keyboard — so far — is how the palm of my hand sometimes hit the
trackpad and sent my cursor flying.
It's not perfect — there are clear generational improvements to be made in the screen tech in particular, and the
trackpad needs a tweak — but this is a tablet that
really can double as a laptop for light duties.
Xcode would need an iOS app (cue maniacal developer laughter), and there would have to be a
really good keyboard folio to use it with; one with a nice
trackpad, at least.
For now, the haptic feedback simply replicates the feeling of clicking a mechanical
trackpad (something it does perfectly — you
really feel like you're pressing a real button), but over time Apple is likely to find other uses for the pressure sensitive technology.
So far, ThinkPad laptops haven't
really shined in the
trackpad department and some models were even disappointing, but Microsoft's Windows Precision Touchpad technology should fix this issue.
Perfection remains elusive, and Windows laptop manufacturers
really need to figure out how to build a
trackpad once and for all.
Likewise, the
trackpad feels
really solid, although it does make a clicky noise as it travels.
The 33 - foot Bluetooth range conceivably makes the
Trackpad a plausible home theater PC controller — and its dimensions are small enough to prop up on a couch arm or thigh in a bind — but without a keyboard, we can't
really see it functioning without software that presents an on - screen keyboard, like Boxee.
If you just want a
really good Windows laptop, then this is simply the best out there right now, thanks to a great combination of display,
trackpad, keyboard, and overall build quality.
