This isn't to say there aren't things to improve — I very much would have hoped the company would have stuck with
its traditional speaker setup.
Getting a soundbar for your home - theater setup gives you the best of both worlds: You don't have to settle for built - in TV speakers — which we've found to be consistently lackluster — but you also get to enjoy quality audio without the cost (or clutter) of
a traditional speaker setup.

Several
speaker setup options are possible, from a
traditional 5.1, 7.1, or 7.2 channel
speaker configuration, to a Bi-amp
setup where four channels can be devoted to compatible front
speakers, and a 5.1.2 channel
speaker Dolby Atmos
setup option can be accommodated (not all at the same time, of course).
Obviously it wasn't as immersive as using a
traditional 7.1
speaker setup, but the Platinum Headset did help us realize the level of detail the development team at Naughty Dog put into the game.
The company has been making high quality
speakers and
speaker systems for nearly a century, and the new project should excite owners of vintage models who are looking to phase out more
traditional wired
setups in favor of something more modern.
Even
traditional multi-piece Atmos
setups often rely on upward - firing add - on
speakers to save the hassle of drilling into your ceiling.
In addition to a
traditional three -
speaker setup, you can fully customize every aspect of home theater with a combination of side - firing
speakers and rear
speakers — and even height modules or in - ceiling
speakers for Dolby Atmos that create special sound effects above you.
Possibly as a result of the sound processing Orbitsound applies to create the airSOUND spatial audio, it sounded like there was a more digital edge to the music, which I don't get via my more
traditional amp /
speaker setup.
For those who prefer a more
traditional non-wireless
speaker setup, the Model Sub can be plugged into any audio receiver using the Model Sub's analog line input.
The idea behind the
setup is to create a 360 - degree soundscape by augmenting a
traditional 5.1 or 7.1 surround sound
setup with between two and four ceiling
speakers or, barring that, upwards - facing satellites.

Of course the HS6 soundbar offers more
traditional audio inputs as part of a home cinema
setup and we saw it demoed using an optical connection from the TV, but then connected to H3 rear
speakers in a surround sound arrangement.
As mentioned above, the most common configurations are 5.1.2 or 5.1.4, which add two and four height
speakers to a
traditional 5.1 surround
setup respectively, though Dolby supports much larger configurations.
