These dogs are
trained by inmates at the Albemarle Correctional Institution in an 8 - week obedience training class.
The dogs live with and are
trained by the inmates for 8 weeks and learn the basic skills necessary to pass the American Kennel Club's Canine Good Citizen test.
If the service dog candidate meets the criteria for service work, it enters training in our Prisoners Overcoming Obstacles and Creating Hope (POOCH) program, to be
trained by inmates to become a service dog.
Begun in 2004, the Rebound program sends selected shelter dogs for
training by inmates at the Sanger B. Powers Correctional Center in Oneida.

training supervisor and the
inmates and the Central Florida Reception Center Prison in Orlando.
