Automatic transmission fluid (ATF), also known as transmission fluid or
tranny fluid for short, is the fluid used in vehicles with self - shifting or automatic transmissions.
Dual Clutch and Constantly Variable trannies don't operate like regular automatic trannies in that they don't (to my knowledge) operate by redirecting
tranny fluid to lock and unlock planetary carriers; they don't even have planetary gears.
How does

the tranny fluid in there.
I did change
the tranny fluid not long ago and there wasn't any sign of metal shavings or anything else.
Given how
tranny fluid helps engines with this problem, should I just leave it alone?
I would drain
the tranny fluid looking for metal debris and such, this will tell you that the tranny is grinding internally, not good.

In an automatic, no
fluid,
tranny no go.
The only difference would be, once you have a dry pan with new filter, put the 2 quarts back into the
tranny and start from that point with exchanging
fluid.
It's in the older
trannies which have not had the
fluid changed where you'll usually see issues starting not long after a flush.
With the standard, you have to have
fluid flow through the TC and that occurs at the front of the
tranny, not the rear wear the drive line or axles would be spinning.
I was aware of the transmission complaints so the first thing I did was go to an aftermarket
tranny shop and had them service the automatic and put in Royal Purple full synthetic
fluid and also check it out on their computer.
Fresh oil change,
tranny flush, all
fluids replaced.
