bank rewards
points are usually maximized by
transferring them for premium redemptions, many «regular» folks prefer to use their
points to go visit the family in Iowa for the holidays, which means transferability isn't as vital.
And taking the analysis even further, is it ever worth
transferring a flexible
bank currency to a hotel chain like Hilton or Marriott or IHG when their
points are usually worth less than 1 cent each at best?
Those
bank points could be
transferred to a variety of different airlines and redeemed for much higher values.
These miles were acquired primarily from the mega 100k signing bonus Chase
Bank offered for their British Airways Visa cards & the rest were
transferred into the BA program from American Express Membership Rewards
points.
So even when you're earning
bank points, you'll get the most value out of those
points by
transferring them to miles.
