Usually the best value you can get from these points is to, as is usually the case with
all transferable reward currencies, transfer them into airline programs for award flights.
This week I'm taking a look at the four major
transferable rewards currencies individually and listing out the airline and, where relevant, hotel rewards programs those currencies can be transferred into.
There are no other cards that earn any of the major
transferable rewards currencies — including Chase Ultimate Rewards and SPG Starpoints — at such a high rate for all purchases.
The ability to earn a fixed two points per dollar in a valuable
transferable rewards currency is unique in the rewards credit card industry.
Not exact matches
The card earns Membership
Rewards points, the
currency in Amex's loyalty program, which can be exchanged for statement credits or cash back, used to book travel through Amex's travel website, or, to get the most value, transferred to any of 17 airline and three hotel transfer partners (
transferable points are among the best).
There are a few reasons, including travel and purchase protections and other perks, but from a
rewards perspective, Chase's cards are particularly valuable because of the type of

Most importantly, all the credit cards I've listed above earn
transferable currencies (they can be moved to a number of other loyalty programs) while the points earned thought the Marriott
Rewards credit card are really only of any use at Marriott properties....

I get the overwhelming majority of my Hyatt points via transfers from Chase Ultimate

Flying Blue has become more and more relevant for US - based travelers as it has gradually become a transfer partner for all three of the major

Rewards — so any positive changes to the program are very welcome.

Rewards) as well as being a transfer partner of Starwood's Starpoints so it's not hard to top up a Flying Club account.
If you have points in a
transferable currency program such as Chase Ultimate
Rewards, American Express Membership
Rewards, or Starwood Preferred Guest, you're in luck!!
Then there's
transferable currencies, mainly Amex Membership
Rewards, Chase Ultimate
Rewards, Citi ThankYou Points, and Starwood Preferred Guest.
This is easily the highest number of airline partners of any
transferable currency and compares favorably to other
transferable points programs, such as Chase Ultimate
Rewards and Amex Membership
Rewards.
4: Airlines that you can transfer from SPG but not from the
transferable currencies like Chase Ultimate
Rewards, Amex Membership
Rewards or Citi Thank You allow you to redeem for First and Business class at redemption prices far less than US airlines.
So your Chase Ultimate
Rewards points, your Citi Thank You points, your American Express Membership
Rewards points and your Starwood Preferred Guest (SPG) points can all be sent over to Singapore Airlines (transfer times vary by
transferable currency).
One reason I increasingly value credit card
rewards points is the «
transferable» nature of these
currencies.
And as
transferable points
currencies go, I prefer Chase Ultimate
Rewards points to Citi ThankYou points since it transfers to additional travel partners that I find useful: Singapore KrisFlyer, which Citi ThankYou points also transfer to, and also Korean SkyPass, British Airways Avios, United MileagePlus and Hyatt Gold Passport, among others.
