I tried making a nut butter.
I've never
tried making nut butter in my Vitamix before but I find it works perfectly in the food processor!

I wanted to
try it for a long time, but I only had a small foodprocessor and I didn't think it would be strong enough to
make nut butters.
I'm really sorry but I haven't
tried the other versions of the Magimix but I imagine that they would be able to
make the
nut butters.
Am going to
try to
make these but I don't have almond flour — can I skip this totally or replace it with
nut butter?
We have
tried making our own
nut butter a few times in the past years, but it wasn't until a couple of weeks ago that we really got the hang of it.
I've yet to find one that comes close to «normal» bread but some of the almond or seeded recipes I've
tried make a very acceptable base to put mashed avocado or
nut butter on.
As I often
try to give my children energy balls too, I use Wowbutter (
nut - free,
made from roasted soya but tastes exactly like peanut
butter) and sunflower seeds in place of peanuts.
I
tried making it while living in Kenya (good luck finding
nut butters there) but did not have much success (the equipment is also not that great).
Can't wait to

I'm always amazed at how easy
nut butters are to
make... although I have yet to
try it myself!

nuts without anything to help it come out smoothly (like oil or sweetener).

It's funny, I've been
making nut butter for quite some time, but never
tried raw almond at home before... I liked this much more than any of the raw
nut butters I've purchased.

I find topping them with banana and drizzled natural peanut
butter makes them extra tasty so I highly recommend
trying them that way, or with whatever your favorite
nut butter / fruit combo is.

trying sunflower
butter that first time I've experimented with
making my own
nut and seed
butters at home in order to venture outside the peanut
butter realm.
I'm not generally a fan of single - macronutrient products like protein powders anyway and
try to get my nutrients from whole foods as much as possible, but it's nice to have the option sometimes if I'm
making a shake or smoothie to get a protein boost as I just haven't seemed to build up the stomach capacity on an plant based diet to fit all that food in there, and sometimes I just want a break from
nut / seed
butters, quinoa and whole soy.
The dates
make up the bulk of them... if you wanted to
try something else, you could
try using raisins and add in extra oats and
nut butter!
If you are allergic to peanut
butter you can also
try to
make these using other
nut butters, maybe even sunflower seed
butter?

butter as that can easily replace
nut butter in most recipes.

tried making this with alternative
nut butters yet, however I'm sure it would do very well with peanut
butter, cashew
butter, or sunbutter (for those of you who are
nut free).

Try to get some sources of healthy fats with every meal to
make sure you don't go too low... This could be avocados, any and all
nuts (almonds, walnuts, pistachios, pecans, etc), seeds (pumpkin seeds, sunflower seeds),
nut butters (almond
butter, natural peanut
butter, etc), virgin coconut oil (good source of medium chain triglycerides), extra virgin olive oil, grass fed beef (good source of conjugated linoleic acid and omega - 3s), whole eggs (yes, whole eggs... not egg whites), etc..
Or,
try protein powders
made from egg, rice, peas or whey or add
nut butters to smoothies, oats or quinoa for a protein - packed breakfast.
