As a guy I was a little skeptical when I first
tried pilates.
And b to go farther into city limits of the nearest city then i can without breaking out in histerics (the smalest amount of traffic or the tiniest thought i might be lost triggers my claustrophobia) i have
tried pilates before but only on tapes and i get bored really quick with anything on tape.
I tried Pilates, spinning, yoga, running, hiking, cardio machines, circuit training, weight lifting, step classes, aerobics, and finally found CrossFit.
Alternatively, if you are unable to effectively engage your core,
try a Pilates class to ensure you have the correct technique to build your base.
I was at the gym five days a week,
trying Pilates, weights, the elliptical, and anything else that sounded interesting.
For tight abs and a sexy waist,

try regular floor based
pilates instead.
Some fun options: swimming, hiking, walking, bellydance (or any form of dance), barre fitness, rock climbing (indoor or outdoor), rowing / kayaking,
pilates, yoga, martial arts... I wish you were in my area, and could
try out my FemFusion group fitness classes!
Also worth
trying are the plank and various
Pilates moves.
I'm also a fan of
pilates (mat classes, I haven't
tried the reformer machine thingies), and I think that goes really well with ballet.
I am not into Yoga or any thing but do
try to incorporate stretching and also
Pilates, which helped with my back & hip pains after becoming a mother.
I will
try that routine, it should be a great addition to my
Pilates and walking.
And vice versa — if you're already a
pilates fan, give yoga a
try!
