Sacramento County school districts in Natomas and Galt posted among the
highest truancy rates in the region in the 2013 - 14 school year, new data from the California Department of Education show.
The Chester Upland district has seen a decline
in truancy rates during the past few years — average attendance was about 80 percent in 1998.
The Fremont SAGE team had won top state honors in spring 2002 for its Business Operations Management Business Academy Student Team (BOMBAST) project, which had nearly halved the school's 70
percent truancy rate.
Reporting this data (along with setting a common
chronic truancy rate, for which this publication has long argued) would also be a good step.
