to maternal love, Aliens and Terminator 2: Judgment Day.

true sequel to Cloverfield since the release of the first

Cameron's beef seems
to be less with superhero
films in general though and more about Hollywood's obsession with
sequels, remakes and branding — which is strange coming from a filmmaker who is prepping a new series of «Terminator» movies (the sixth, seventh and eighth in that franchise), four new «Avatar» movies (
sequels to a
film many consider more a showreel for today's effects than a truly enjoyable bit of filmmaking), and a TV series based on his»90s
film «
True Lies».
True, the
film includes among its final credits (and as all Marvel fans will know, you must stay for the credits
to see the teaser for the
sequel) the pious warning: «Driving while distracted can be hazardous
to you and others on the road.
The producer added that a
sequel would not be as dark in tone as the 2015
film, and would instead «try
to be
truer to the essence of the tone of Fantastic Four» which is «brighter, funner, more optimistic.»
The success of the
film will likely bolster the
sequel's budget, but the franchise seems like it will remain
true to its thrifty roots.
