Since mushrooms can be a great substitute for beef, I thought it might be nice to
try adding them to my sauce.

I would experiment a bit with
adding more salt
to see if that does the trick; another option would be
to add a bit more acidity
to punch up the flavors —
try adding a bit of Tabasco
sauce to see if that gives it the body you're looking for.
(Another idea, if you feel like the zoodles need
to be «saucy»,

I've got leftovers, so I'm going

The question of thickening
sauces is one of the hurdles I face every time I put up a recipe post — it's become a bit of an internal struggle (as seen with last week's beef and broccoli stir fry recipe, in which I hesitatingly called for a teaspoon of flour as a thickener) because while
adding a bit of flour or cornstarch
to a larger recipe may not drastically impact the carb count, it does complicate the consistently Primal message I
try to convey.

The molds we used are shown in the picture above and I like them because I can
add something
to the middle, the center is hollow (and the manufacturer's website says they are BPA free:]), for example, we
tried doing apple pops (using juice) then filled the center with homemade apple
sauce!
