try allergy testing and elimination trials from diet but if it isn't causing any problem, keep an eye on it.

Answer: You and your veterinarian need to find his underlying cause:
allergies (usually, but
try to determine what he is allergic to) vs pyoderma vs hypothyroidism vs demodex etc = all are treated differently and can recur until you treat the underlying problem or figure out what he allergic to through trial and error and
testing.
