You could
try dried cherries + pecans or dried apples + walnuts.
If I do ot again I would
try the dried cherries.
I plan to
try dried cherries in the mix as well.
I'd be inclined to
try dried cherries over raisins, however.
Not exact matches
I
tried and really liked beveri's ground flax with
dried blueberries in a couple of smoothies, including the
cherry one you see below.
Give
dried cranberries or
cherries a
try for the taste of complementary sweetness.
I'll have to

I used
dried cherries & raisins, hemp seed hearts, unsweetened coconut flakes, walnuts and pecans, only 1 Tablespoon of honey (
trying to cut back on sugar), and I also added some blueberries (which made them purple).
And, last night I was
trying to figure out what to eat — I ended up with an oatmeal (homemade) bar, nuts and fruit — But... I this recipe would have worked for me — I had the ingredient — well, no cranberries, but I had
dried cherries — Now this is a saver for me — thank you --
Try it in this quinoa pilaf, dotted with tart
dried cherries and toasty almonds.

1/4 c of creamy or crunchy peanut butter (I used Smart Balance crunchy) 1/3 c of
dried tart
cherries (I'm thinking pitted prunes would also be wonderful — I'll be
trying those next) 3 tbl of roasted unsalted or salted peanuts 1/4 tsp of salt (you can omit this if you decide to use salted peanuts) 1/8 tsp of vanilla extract 2 tbl of shredded and toasted coconut 2 tbl of dark cocoa powder 1 tsp of chia seeds (optional) 1/4 c of chocolate chips (optional)
Try other
dried fruits: chopped apricots, cranberries, apples, and
cherries are all good.
The recipe looks amazing and I'd love to
try it, but... I live in the Netherlands and
dried cherries are really hard to find around here.
Try substituting
dried cherries for the currents or raisins.
If you decide to
try out the recipe, remember that they aren't super sweet but they are super versatile — I'm sure different
dried fruits like cranberries, figs, dates, currants,
cherries or blueberries would work great if you wanted to substitute ingredients.
We make pink lemonade every weekend, and instead of stirring the sugar into the water, I make a simple syrup of the water and sugar, add fresh mint leaves and a mixed fruit flavored tea from
dried fruits and leaves — you can
try different tea flavors like
cherry, berry, hibiscus etc., the mixed cocktail seems to go over best in our house.
Or
try milk chocolate and almonds, or dark chocolate and
dried cherries, or white chocolate and chopped pistachios or macadamia nuts.
Quite sweet with the glacé
cherries so might
try dried cranberries next time.
Sub fresh
cherries for
dried when they're in season, use green lentils instead of black, or
try goat cheese instead of feta.
Trail mix (
try making your own with your own blend of nuts, dark chocolate chips,
dried blueberries or
cherries)
