tried a couple of our favorite ways to use maca — Strawberry - Vanilla Maca Smoothie, as well as simply stirring in a spoonful into granola with chocolate
almond milk — yum!
* 1/2 cup
organic sugar for coating the cookies before baking, plus additional 1/3 cup
organic sugar (I used Wholesome Sweeteners
organic, fair - trade sugar) * 1 1/2 cups
organic, all - purpose flour (I used Central Milling Company
organic, all purpose flour); I haven't
tried it yet, but I bet you could substitute
almond flour for a gluten - free version * 3/4 cup cocoa powder (I used Dagoba
organic, fair - trade cocoa powder) * 1/2 teaspoon baking soda * 1/2 cup Lyle's golden syrup * 1 large egg white, preferably
organic and free - range * 1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract * 12 tablespoons (1 1/2 sticks)
organic salted butter, softened * 1/3 cup dark brown sugar, packed (I used Wholesome Sweeteners
organic, fair - trade dark brown sugar) * 1 bar / 3 ounces dark chocolate with mint, chopped into 1/2 inch pieces (I used Theo Peppermint Stick Dark Chocolate)
If all else fails, you could
try making your own cheese out of raw
organic cashews or
almonds.
I don't know where I did wrong because I made my own
almond milk, searched the best
organic oranges... but it wasn't the delicate texture and taste we expected: — LRB - Anyway, I'll
try another pie with the wonder crust soon!
I confess that I have spent lots on money on exotic - sounding / different brands of nut butters (including chocolate
almond), but I an
trying to make my own more (instead of buying the natural
organic ones or using the but butter grinders at stores) to save some money.
I had just finished making a batch of homemade
almond butter (because I won't spend $ 17 on a jar of
organic almond butter at the store, either), and I decided to
try out a chocolate version.
I'm going to
try it, but instead of all chicken bouillon, I am going to add some plain,
organic almond milk for a creamier texture.
I am going to stick with my
organic peanut butter and be conscious about keeping it refrigerated and may
try to start using
almond butter as a substitute more often.
Pure water is recommended for ultimate hydration, but for a thicker shake, you can
try plain
organic almond milk.
Instead of the typical cereal in the morning (that's slowly killing you and making you fatter),
try a bowl of plain greek full - fat
organic yogurt (which is loaded with healthy gut probiotics, healthy fats, AND protein) and add in a handful of fresh,
organic berries (or frozen wild blueberries), a handful of nuts such as either
almonds or pecans (more healthy fats), and a little stevia or vanilla protein for a little added sweetness if you need it.
For a more indulgent donut,
try 2 options for frosting: Option 1 (super healthy): 1/4 cup melted
organic coconut oil 1/4 cup raw cacao powder A few drops of
organic liquid stevia Option 2 (more indulgent): 5 TBS
organic powdered sugar 1 TBS
organic almond milk 2 TBS melted
organic coconut oil Another fun option: Make a «Lemon Vanilla» version by substituting the chocolate protein powder for Plexus 96 Vanilla and eliminating the cacao powder.
I had
tried organic unsweetened
almond milk and soy milk but neither one was something I could sustain for long periods of time.
