I am going to make a test run and
try the organic maple because I have a lot of it.

Regular honey (not raw and
organic) and
maple syrup are all sugar and should be avoided if you're
trying to stay off sugar.
If you don't have time to make pumpkin recipes, just make sure the pumpkin products you are buying at the store are free of preservatives, artificial flavors and chemicals (
try organic pumpkin puree, pumpkin ice cream,
maple pumpkin KIND bars,
organic roasted pumpkin seeds, pumpkin granola, etc.).
But really, feel free to
try evaporated cane juice (or
organic white sugar), Sucanat,
maple sugar, date sugar, «raw» sugar, or even lucuma powder in this recipe.

Coconut nectar is one of my favourite sweeteners, and here's a laundry list as to why: it's low GI (35), very affordable (even when buying
organic), minimally refined, and has an amazing taste -
try the light version for a honey replacement, and the dark for a
maple syrup type flavour.
For the shakes that I make myself, here are some things to keep in mind if you
try it... A good source of quickly digestible natural carbs such as frozen bananas, pineapples, honey, or
organic maple syrup are perfect to elicit an insulin response that will promote muscle glycogen replenishment and a general anabolic (muscle building) effect.
You should also
try to reduce the refined sugars you eat, going for natural sources of sugar like fruit,
organic honey, and real
maple syrup.
And if you are not vegan, you might
try blending grass raised
organic butter, cream cheese or chèvre with
maple syrup,
maple sugar, raw honey, or coconut sugar for a luscious frosting.
