When Manna Organics contacted me asking if I'd like to
try their sprouted grain breads (any 4 loaves of my choice!)

Fresh juices (I'm a convert), Brussel
sprouts and rapini are upstaging kale (baby or otherwise), cooked
grain salads, Ramen (it's a second go - round), globally - inspired sandwiches (like Cuban pressed sandwiches) brunch as well as grilled cheese sandwiches, and customized food (even McDonald's is
trying to be accommodating), drip coffee (move over Latte, Espresso and Café au Lait) along with fancy copper drip coffee filter holders (check out Hario Coffee or Kalita).
So I decided to
try to make some
sprouted grain flours myself.

I
tried the Food For life
sprouted grain bread for the first time.
Because they make up such a large part of my vegetarian diet, I
try to keep out an eye out and buy
grains sprouted whenever I can.
Try sprouting wild rice
grains and mill for gluten - free baking.
Sprouting grains is not a newfangled food trend, but a
tried and true traditional preparation of
grains dating as far back as biblical times and as modern as the industrial revolution.
Bread from a bake shop is usually (not always) healthier than bagged bread, so
try things like
sprouted grain breads and artisnal breads, especially those made with unusual
grains or nuts.
What started as a personal quest to
try to discover the truth in nutrition led to the discovery of the goodness of
sprouting grains for digestibility and nutrition.
I order
sprouted grains and flour from her, but have never
tried the corn flour before because I was worried about the consistency.

I would be putting the Coconut Earth Balance Spread on some
sprouted grain english muffins, and
trying it in some homemade cookies.
In our kitchen I
try to at least soak (sparking the
sprouting process) all of our seeds, nuts,
grains and legumes... including whole spices.
Any such
grains you use,
try to use the
sprouted grains» flour because it is easy to digest and also way healthier than normal flour.
I've
tried the Ezekiel
sprouted grain bread, but even I (the most whole -
grain loving member of my family) found it to be tough and not so tasty that I wanted more.
Try slathering a piece of
sprouted grain toast with cashew butter or add a big scoop to your smoothie (see recipe above).
Super Smoothie: 1 cup (approximately) almond milk or any milk you like + 1 handful baby spinach or mixed dark leafy greens + 1 scoop of your favorite protein powder (
try to avoid protein powders with lots of additives and sugar - link to my top 5 favorites) + 1 Tablespoon peanut butter or almond butter + 1/2 cup berries (frozen or fresh) + 1/2 cup
sprouted grain cereal (link so you know what to look for)
I have not given up carbs, but I
try to stick with
sprouted grains, sweet potatoes and brown rice — in much smaller quantities than in the past.

If you do not have celiac disease, I encourage you to
try the einkorn products and
sprouted grain products that are now available in health food stores, and tune in to how these foods make you feel.
Even the «healthy» crusts contain wheat flour, usually with added synthetic vitamins, and we
try to avoid wheat and gluten in our household, unless it's
sprouted or derived from the ancient
grain einkorn.
I have been toying with the idea of
trying to make a
sprouted almond flour sourdough but I don't know if it would behave the same way
grain would because almonds have a much higher fat content than most
grains, along with other big differences.
This occasionally leads people with celiac disease or others with gluten intolerance to
try them, in the belief that
sprouting the
grains reduces or eliminates their gluten content.
To this day, even though I am healthy now, I eat very little
grain and if I do, I
try to always eat a
sprouted, ancient
grain.
I'll
try to get the kids to eat
sprouted grains, picky little eaters that they are.
