The wide
console of the central
tunnel accommodates the standard MMI terminal as well as the newly
designed flat selector lever of the S tronic transmission.
As an option, the dashboard can be ordered with a two - tone
design: while the upper section and the centre
console are finished in a darker shade, the lighter contrasting colour used for the knee bolster, glove compartment lid and
tunnel makes these areas really stand out.
Another OLED touchscreen rises up from the transmission
tunnel — the bendable
design is said to improve ergonomics and retracts to fit flush with the
console when not in use.
The door bins, for instance, are only really
designed to swallow up bottles of water (which they, admittedly, do fairly well), and the cubby spot between the center
console and the transmission
tunnel is rather tricky to access.
Besides elements from the TT *, the
design of the center
console and the doors of the show car also include numerous elements from the Q family, such as a robustly
designed tunnel support and functional cup holders in front of the shift lever.
