Cats enjoy chewing on chicken wing tips, chicken or
turkey gizzard strips or beef shank or heart slivers.
It may not sound tasty to you, but
turkey gizzard is yummy treat to dogs.

The turkey gizzards and heart seem like a reasonable treat so you cook them up in some of the drippings from the bird and add the yummy mix to his kibble, forgetting that you already let him lick out the bacon pan from breakfast.

The protein portion of your dog's diet can come from poultry (chicken,
