turnaround approach is seen by some as a first of its kind — both for its academic results and, education experts say, for the inclusive and pragmatic way it got traditional public
schools, charters, nonprofits, and families to work together.
Getting this
turnaround work right is important
now more than ever, particularly as the Every Student Succeeds Act, or ESSA, gives states greater autonomy to support their lowest - performing
schools.
Because of their central importance for successful
turnaround, these four practices
now thread through all of our agency's supports for the state's lowest performing
schools.
Now that you have your goals and know what resources are available to deploy, it's time to identify the programs and policies you can put into place to begin your
school's
turnaround.
Eight years after they found themselves lumped in with some of the lowest - performing
schools in the state, Mobile County
schools such as Mae Eanes Middle
School and Grant Elementary are
now regularly making Adequate Yearly Progress on state exams and have become
turnaround models for educators around the country.
