Just because a
dog is of the «conformation»
type does NOT mean that it can not work
in the field, just as being of the «field»
type does NOT mean that that
dog can not win
in the
show ring.
Because we don't focus exclusively on
show type, our
dogs aren't the flashy
show dogs that judges are used to seeing, but their soundness, correct coats, and easy - gait (movement) allows our
dogs to be competitive
in the
show ring, even when competiting at specialty
shows.

One of the problems we are having
in the
show ring right now is that some judges simply do not seem to understand breed
type in the Cavalier, but then they do not always see good
dogs.

types of breeders; some of whom maintain poor conditions, breed without care, and fail to back up their puppies with support, while others study the bloodlines of the stud and bitch before they breed, certify their breeding stock for genetic abnormalities, and prove their
dogs in the
show ring.
Unlike many gun
dogs that have distinct «
show types» and «field
types,» the Brittany
in the
show ring has the same coat and structure and working ability as the Brittany
in the field.
