A supported internship is one
type of study programme specifically aimed at young people aged 16 to 24 who have a statement of SEN, an LDA, or an EHC plan, who want to move into employment and need extra support to do so.

This
type of work experience usually follows a structured
programme including business presentations, case
study workshops, mock interviews, work shadowing and networking opportunities.

Data were extracted on
type and intensity
of the intervention, target group, extent
of programme integration with the child's medical care, level
of training
of the intervener, consistency
of the delivery
of the intervention, the extent to which a theoretical model was used to develop the intervention,
study design, sample size, patient baseline characteristics, follow up, and outcome measures.
For example, a tobacco - focused review which included any intervention
type, classified interventions with a component
of resilience content into different subgroups such as social competence or social influence interventions, finding evidence for both broad intervention approaches.6 For the alcohol - focused review, only universal interventions were included with such interventions grouped according to whether they targeted alcohol alone or targeted multiple substance
types.5 While meta - analysis was not conducted due to the heterogeneity
of studies, the review concluded that some psychosocial and developmental prevention
programmes were effective.
These results are supported by fidelity findings from the structured observations (N = 27) carried out in a sample
of classes over the course
of the
study (observations: mean number
of observed activities full implementation = 90.9 %; partial implementation = 2.3 %; activities not implemented = 6.8 %) Given that there was no significant difference in the level
of programme adherence between the intervention groups, the impact results were analysed by comparing the intervention group's results (i.e. intervention
Type I combined with intervention
Type II) with the control group's results.

studies that are qualitative reports
of parent training
programmes, with no quantitative assessment, will not be included.
Inclusion
of studies was not restricted by child or parental co-morbidity or by
type of comparator (e.g. wait list control, different parenting
programme or other treatment).
